Sent Application to Our Home Study Agency

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

We had sent our application to the home study agency, BCHFS, last Saturday, and it was approved today. There’s a lot of paper work to do for them that is separate from the dossier for our adoption agency. I wasn’t expecting this much. It’s going to take more time to complete than I would like. Apparently, it is an Illinois law that a family wanting to adopt has to be a licensed foster home. So, we will have to do all the work required to be a foster home even though we don’t plan on ever having foster children. Lots of papers to read and sign plus blood tests, fingerprinting, CPR training, and 10 hours of Hague approved training. Hague has to do with countries that have signed The Hague Agreement. China is one of those countries.
